Decided to ride out to Uitenhage / Kirkwood area this morning with my brother Bryan (Super Tenere) and a friend Bill (BMW 800). We took the direct route along the N2 to the Commercial road off ramp onto the Uitenhage road. Carried on past Uitenhage to Daniel’s Cheetah project for a quick breakfast. One hot beverage and a venison Sammie later we were on our way. Took the turn off to Kirkwood on the R336 and then left on the Ntaba Lodge road.

The road is very good for an off road jaunt with some river crossings and “sleeping policemen”. Obviously you slow down to ride over these, obviously! You will then need to bear left at a T junction which will take you through about 5 farm gates. Then turn left directly after the last gate. Continue with this road and turn left at the T junction and follow this to Glenconnor and then onto the R75 back to PE.

The section after the 5 farm gates was very interesting and the pic’s below were taken in that area.

Firstly we had to fix Bryan’s Touratech top box bracket that broke again! The design looks suspect IMHO with a massive cantilever system build between the bracket and fixture points.

Good job this sign was at the opposite end of the road to our entry or we may not have made the trip.

No motorcyclist were injured (much) during the making of this ride report :ricky:
