At exactly 15h50 today at the bottom of Tokai Rd in Cape Town an old man ( early 80's) and his wife, driving a new Toyota Corolla, pulled out right in front of me.

I was riding my old Dakar, now owned by my brother-in-law who is working in Yemen. I hit the car at about 60 km/hr in the right rear door. I flew over the roof and landed on my right butt cheek.

The bike is a complete write off - both forks snapped, frame bent, wheel buckled - I will post pics tomorrow.

Their  car is very badly damaged - all driver's side curtain airbags deployed - both doors in their glory and roof kinked.

The amazing thing is that I walked away - I do not have a scratch on me. I was wearing shorts, my work shirt and an old HJC full face helmet.

I have spent the last 2 and a bit hours counting every single one of my lucky stars. I have a 2 year old son and my wife is 5 months pregnant with our second child.

FFS please take it easy out there ..... and don't forget ATGAT !!!
