Prepsol on Windscreen

I used Prepsol on my bike for the first time today.  Put it on the windshield as part of the whole washing bike exercise.  I must have done something wrong because my windshield is now badly marked. It looks like it has permanent streaks on it and it looks 'smoky'.  Has anyone else done this and have you managed to fix it and if yes, how?
