This morning I joined a friend who was taking his sister to see the sights around the cape, the idea was to ride through from Bergvliet to Franschhoek have breakfast there and then over the pass and down to Grabouw. Now how can any self respecting DS biker miss out on taking a slight detour at Theewaters dam :ricky: The friend is still not recovered enough to attempt dirt again since we rode Baviaans Kloof and Otto Du Plessis Pass earlier this year :.
I turned off at the Dam and Johan continued on the Tar to Grabouw.
van der Stel Pass is in even better condition than when I last rode it about 5 months ago, more like a tarred road than dirt really ot:
On reaching Botrivier I headed for the old Houhoek pass road, I have never ridden this road before and all I can say is WOW  now this is more like it. The channels which were built to prevent erosion seem to be eroding faster than the road itself, but they keep you awake. few interesting sections where the water has washed away some of the inclines, but nothing serious. I have added this one to my roads to ride when bored list :thumleft:
That about sums up everything climbed back onto the N2 just up the road from the Houhoek farm stall and caught up with Johan at the Peregrine Farm stall. All in all not a Bad way to spend a Saturday morning.
Sorry about the quality of the pics they were all taken with my cellphone.
PS watch this space Namibia Ride report to come soon, just waiting for the other guys to get me their pics and also give some input.
