R 300 MITCHELS PLEIN ( BELVILLE-Boston to N2 SOMERSET WEST )

Cape town dogs , help please , possible detour to visit some friends in Boston/ Belville . Then I want to make my way back to the N2 ( destination Mossel bay) on GOOGLE EARTH it shows I can travel up the N1 turn of on the R300 MITCHELSPLEIN road , this will take me back to the N2 , want to know if safe to travel ? Or do I go back and get on the N2 at Swartrivier ? best option please !
Just looked again and the R102 looks like an even better option to cut out some unnecessary distance .
