Hello all,
Starting day 6 of my shakedown ride. The Dakar is very tough and she has done well. I will do a full ride report this weekend once I am back in Jo'burg, but here is an overview so far by day.
1). Sunday - road from Jo'burg down the N3 until the tar roads drove me nuts, then stuck to dirt as I made my way to Sani Top
2). Monday - bad day. Not as many kms as I wanted to do. Bad crash avoiding a truck. Lost keys, etc.
3). Tuesday - made it 50 k into Baviaans and camped. Beautiful
4). Wednesday - Stayed with Trailrider in George. Thanks again, buddy.
5). Thursday - Made it the rest of the way along th garden route to Capetown
Now I am on day six and trying to get back to Jo'burg by Saturday night. Anyone know of good places to stay somewhere in between?
