Road between Cederberg Oasis and Wuppertal

Am planning a trip to Cederberg with the wife and includes the section between Cederberg Oasis and Wuppertal? The maps say 4x4 so was wondering how technical it is and if there is allot of sand.

Is advisable to do a with a novice pillion?
