I have read that to get a fast bike you need to run it in fast.  I thought that was just BS.  A bike is just a machine & you cant 'train' it like an animal.

I came across this article which at least tries to explain why it is better to run-in fast instead of pussy-footing it for the first 1000 km.  I wonder a bit about there being gas pressure behind the rings only - it is equally likely to be on the outside it seems to me.

What  can you guys tell me about this.  (Too late for me as I bought a bike second hand & I am certain it was always pussy-footed; not a spec of dust under the saddle or behind the clocks & a clueless owner).
