I have no idea what a "normal" service on an LC8 costs at a KTM agent or any decent bike shop for that matter

I have done 5000 km on my SE since I got it (and it was last serviced) and decided to service it myself plenty of time before my trip to the National Bash to make sure all was 100% and give someone else enough time to fix if I stuffed something up

I bought the following from Craig's in Maitland Cape Town

4 litres Repsol oil - R400 (it is fully synthetic 10W50 JASO T903 MA - exactly what KTM spec for the bike- - before some "forum experts" out there kak me out for buying any old oil)
Champion Oil Filter - R75
Front Brake Pads - R165
Rear Brake Pads - R170

TOTAL PARTS COST R810 LESS 15% discount for CASH NOTES = R688 (I consider that a bargain for such top quality parts)

I also did a complete coolant flush and change - had some quality glycol Everon coolant in stock - used 1 litre - cost R20

Air filter still clean and like new so I just blew it out and put it back in. Old Spark plugs and petrol filter still good so they can stay until next service.

Took me 3 hours at a leisurely pace in my own garage - my labour is free to me

Current mileage is 25000 km so not due for checking valve clearances yet - I will leave that to an expert

Even though I work in the motor trade I am not a mechanic BUT an accountant by profession and qualification so if I can do it YOU can too
