My R100RS is being turned into a cafe racer and hence the large "car battery" needs to make way for something smaller as I need that space for the single rear shock. This small battery would then be relocated to either the tail piece of even better below the engine or under the tank somewhere.
I had a look at my 1200 Adventure's battery and size wise it would do and I even took it out and connected it to the Airhead and it starts as easy with the smaller battery as the OE size large one. The 1200 uses a Yuasa YTZ14S which is an 11.2 Ah battery with 230 CCA.
Question: would there be any long term negatives to using a smaller battery in the Airhead? Would the charging system be okay with the small battery. I'm out of my depth when it comes to electrics and don't know the differences between the workings of these on a 1978 BMW compared to a 2011 BMW.
What batteries are all the other airhead cafe racers using?
