Greetings WD’s, “Testing the Waters”. I am considering selling (SOLD) the my great “little” 1999 Honda XR400, which has been ridden by my son, as “father and son rides” as well as a commuter to college & work when weather is great. Bike was roadworthied & is in my name in 2013, and is still currently licienced used on the road. I have this XR400 serviced & any required “tweaks” fixed at the Honda agents in Auto Motorcycles in PE.
My son & I added some “Bling” to my then XR650R & matching XR400
This bike still goes really well and is in good condition considering it is a 1999 model designed to “play in the bush”
It is a good, cheap, “Bullet-Proof”, beginner bike for novice getting into weekend “adventure riding”. This XR400 has completed “Baviaan”s as well as “Zuurberg Inn-Ann’s Villa” pass, without a hitch on several occasions. (I would however, NOT consider for “Roof of Africa” etc)
The reason for considering selling my XR400, is that I recently upgraded from my Honda XR650R (BRP) to a “happy button KTM690” and now my son is pestering for an upgrade too.
I am considering putting my XR400 on the market for R23K, as these are great reliable bikes that are becoming scarce. The Bike is available in PE for viewing.
a. Bike has a slight oil leak from one of the engine oil seals
b. A heat damaged side cover / number board from touching the exhaust pipe.
c. Will “soon” require a front tire.
Bike history:
a. It was refurbished in 2012 as a garage proj of WD Ganjora & a very interesting thread to read & pics of the process.
b. Bought & resold by WD Fulltaps
c. The reason for #5 is not racing # but my son was fixated with MX Champion Rider #5 "Ryan Dungey"
(I still have the original XR400 headlight cowl if wanted.)
