Johannesburg - A biker was arrested on the N14 near Muldersdrift for allegedly zipping along at 235km/h on Sunday, Gauteng traffic police said.

Officers had to use several vehicles to box the 31-year-old Telkom manager in and prevent him from escaping on his Yahama, spokesperson Busaphi Nxumalo said in a statement.

The man claimed he was speeding because he was late for an appointment. He was released on R1 500 bail and expected to appear in the Krugerdorp Magistrate's Court soon.

He would be charged with reckless or negligent driving and an alternative charge of speeding.
