Suzuki GS 500 carbs

I have a GS 500 and the slides and the slide guides in the carbs are badly worn to the point where the bike barely runs. I have searched for second hand carbs but no shops in the cape seem to have any. I was quoted a price of about 3.5k to replace all the slides in the carbs, now I'm looking for a similar set of carbs off another bike to replace mine with . Does anyone know of other bikes whose carbs are similarish that I could use - someone told me the middle two carbs off a gsx1000 could work ?- else are there guidelines to what to check when seeing if another bike carbs can be suitable replacement?
