I took my V-Strom 1000 in to Suzuki Toy Store Centurion as the bike started using oil and the engine started to sound rough. The bike is 7 months old and has done 6500km. I have serviced it on 1000km and again on 3000km each time the oil and air filters were replaced. Today it transpires that the air filter that was put in at the previous service wasn't so much an air filter as a funnel for dust and dirt to enter the engine. It did not stop any dust or sand and has most certainly destroyed the engine.

I am awaiting a final verdict from Suzuki tomorrow, but the oil use rough sounding engine and sand in the air inlet can mean only one thing.

So a warning to ICM and the other Strom Riders that there may be sub standard air filters being distributed.

Also sympathies will be welcome as I am on leave from today until 4 May with no bike to ride.
