This is the end of a chapter in my biking life and the beginnig of another.

1stly let me say goodbye to the 1100.
It was my 1st big dualie and it has taken me places I never thought I would have been, introduced me to the most amazing people and gave me some of the fondest memories I have of my life up 'till now.

This was the 1st Saturday after I picked it up from Hamman. Very 1st time on dirt with it.
My cousin is the one in front:

Me and Rogue's 1st longer distance trip with it (this is at Mossel bay)

I could load it and it wouldn't complain:

It got me to out of the way places:

I took it to places it probably should not have been:

Done some things with it I probably shouldn't have:

Got stuck once or twice:

I left it out in the cold more than once:

It took me on adventures where more than once it got a complimentary bike wash:

I also learned that the size of the bike has got nothing to do with the enjoyment of the ride:

Explored some forestry areas:

Despite its age I never grew tired of the looks.
It was also always made better with the addition of scenery:

This was the last proper tour it was on:

This was the last weekend that me and Rogue got out on it:

But I knew at some time that the sun would set on this chapter in my life

And that a new one would dawn:

I was always convinced that the 1150 GSA was going to be the next step for me.
I still think that it is the ultimate big adventure tourer and it still make my heart pump Caltex CX3 to see one, but then I came accross an oppertunity to get a 1200 that I couldn't refuse.

It happened like this:
A couple of our friends were going for breakfast and chatting about this and that and the other.
So afterwards at BigEd's house we are having coffee and I ask Yellowfever 'Why don't you sell me your bike ?'

He says - "Shure, but what do I get ?"

So I grab my cellphone, get WD's up and show him a picture of BrettP's 1200GSA. 'This'.

So he looks at the photo, looks at the price, looks at me and says: 'Done'.

I kid you not.

That is how fast the decision was made.

I took the 1200 for a spin and later the day got Rogue to go with, as she needs to be happy as well.
It is way more comfortable, way faster and just in a total different class of what we have known up to know.

And riding it is where I discovered this would be a better bike for my needs.
More than 80% of all my riding is on tar roads and through traffic and the power to weight of this machine, as well as its handling was getting close to the FJ1200 that I had a couple of years ago.

And then if you consider that Yellowfever took it from here to Zanzibar and back and to the top of Sani pass (heavily loaded and two up), then it would be more than good enough for me.

This bike has been to places that I don't even know about.

As this new chapter in my biking life kicks off I know that it is capable and willing to take me to new adventures and new horizons.

Thanks Yellowfever for letting go if it. I will look after it properly and take it places.

Lastly - this is some of the photos that Yellowfever took while out and about.
This bike served him well.
