Return  12th June 2011

The main attraction on this weekend’s run, is to visit the very interesting Randell Ranch Museum ( www.randellsranch.co.za ) just outside Breyton. The second attraction (Some will deem it the main attraction) is the kuir and sleep over in Wakkerstroom. ;D  Saturday evening’s, main “kuir plek” is to be The Wakkerstroom Country Inn. (Very lekker “kosie” pub)

Apart from Randell Ranch Museum, the Main Attraction is the riding there and back. This is a very beautiful part of our country, and we hope the weather will be good. (Should be, its winter!)

Meeting / Departure Point

Route – Dirt /Slab Attached to this post
Basically on Saturday morning, we’ll do a short piece of dirt here and there, but have to hop onto the slab at the Witbank Highway, through Oggies, and all the way to Bethal.  This is because of time constraints only. From Bethal we will be doing mostly dirt the rest of the trip.

Road Condtions
What you see is what you get. This is an adventure. I simply used MapSource, and good old “grey matter” common sense.

Back-Up
Yes.  A double cab bakkie and bike trailer (2 x Bikes) back-up will mostly run on the slab (Mama General), and be called to a GPS position if required.

Weather
It will be winter and cold. That’s why Wakkerstroom is such an awesome place, to sleep over.

Other
I suggest (and encourage) those dogs that want or need their “other halves” to enjoy this week-end away with us, and are not going pillion,  there are ample meeting places along the entire route that they can motor along in the “cages” and join up with us at the major stops. Through this forum they can organise and “gang-up” lifts etc. They can also follow the “back-up” bakkie and trailer.

Those from Johannesburg or East Rand or Hiedelberg, who don’t want to go out and beyond Bapsfontein to meet and start out there, can on Saturday morning nail it to Oggies, and meet us there, or beet it straight to Bethal, and meet at the Wimpy at +/- 09:00 or so.

Furthermore, the route is such that should the need arise, we can hop onto the slab at many places and “make better time” if required.

When coming back on Sunday, and we arrive at the N3 Engen Wimpy at Villiers. Those that wish to run “straight” home up the N3, can do so, alternatively remain with the main group, and route via Delmas and Bapsfontein home again.

Lastly
This is NOT  a Wimpy to Wimpy race. The only reason why I route from Wimpy to Wimpy is for the nice hot coffee and milo, during these cold days, and secondly clean toilets for the “roses, between the thorns”.

Hope to see many there, and enjoy a weekend of great riding, companionship with us. I suggest those interested should make your accommodation reservations, and add your name to the list.
