Cheated on my partner today...
« on: April 09, 2014, 03:00:14 pm »
So, after 70 000km on my current 2011 GSA, all trouble free, I needed to go to Donford today, had some time to kill and the demo LC 1200GSA was available.

Waaroor is ek neutraal:

If I consider my last GSA was R174K then R207K does bug me quite a bit, but then I also bought that in 2011 so it needs to be taken into account.

Anyway, once my wife sees the price that becomes a showstopper, no negotiation beyond that  :imaposer:

Ek is seker daar gaan n midjaar update wees of dalk die volgende shipment sal dit gesort wees.

Yes, which is why it has a different feel (or that is what I think).

The different "feel" to me is not a bad thing, just different and something one will get used to.

This is where it sometimes become difficult to be objective in my opinion, one gets so used to something, my GSA has 70000km on from new (just over 2 1/2 years now) and I am so used to it and comfortable with it.

The only two negatives to me on the new bike is the fact that it seems a bit more "plasticy" (no way to really measure that so very subjective, and the fact that I think the screen is really crap.

I am sure once one owns and rides one it will grow into you (but I am afraid of talking myself into buying one  :imaposer: )

I don't really notice the windscreen anymore. Believe me, best bike I have ever owned. A windscreen is not the end of the world Garfield- certainly some aftermarket will be able to address your concern?

Just buy the damn thing - you will never regret it 😄

To me it is an issue, especially on a R207K bike, but that was first impression, who knows what will change over the next few months.

(ek kry mos maar soms so 'n jeukerigheid, dan is enigiets moontlik  )

I don't like the indicator switch on the LC................
But the bike feels like a 650 when you are used to the bulk of the 1150, until you open the throttle, especially in Enduro mode

Draadwerk, I think he rode the new GSA and I agree, that for me was the one thing above all I did not like. The screen offers very little protection given the size and really dances around a lot compared with our bikes. Using the same mount on the bigger and heavier screen was clearly not a good idea.

Garfield, regarding handling and wheelbase: by integrating the engine and gearbox BMW managed to lengthen the swing arm but retained the wheelbase.
