Based on this thread myself, Curlytop, Thump, Q8 and KT-emmer707 headed towards Steytlerville via the Grootrivierpoort road. Due to some work commitments KT-emmer707 and Q8 were only able to leave PE at noon.

7am arrived and myself and Thump were ready for the ride

We headed towards Grootrivierpoort on the Elandsriver road, a well known road to many a DS rider in PE. Unfortunately they are in the process of resurfacing the road making it more of a highway :( However the base layer of clay makes for fun riding  :ricky:

The top of Elandsriver road looking as awesome as ever

We then branched off on the Grootriver road, some stunning views as usual

This is such an amazing part of the Eastern Cape, just riding through it all i wanted to do was stop and climb the hills that surrounded us, the views were awe-inspiring

We crossed the Grootriver in a stunning valley that still begs to have a tent pitched in it

Riding along the valley provided many amazing views, this one showing a very deep looking pool

We saw an awesome looking farm road climbing a steep hill in the distance and decided to try and get to it. While consulting our trusty GPS' a friendly farmer stopped next to us, after the obligatory "where to where from" chat he invited us to rather ride a trail on his property that according to him provided sea views. We followed him for abut 15Kms before we turned off onto his property, him pointing us in the direction of a "road". It turned out to provide awesome views but at a cost...

Coming back down after a failed attempt to summit this bastard of a hill. It could have been done, but at the cost of time and energy.

We headed to Steytlerville to refuel and grab a refreshment. We then arrived at the campsite and pitched tents and setup camp (my camera decides blue makes for a better picture :p )

It is really an awesome camping spot with all you would need on a camping trip. They have a "donkey" providing hot water, a shower, toilet and kitchen. It is situated right on the Grootriver but with the current drought it is somewhat dry. A little walk upstream made for a great swimming spot though.
