Ok so today I was doing some maintenance on Glen's bike, oil and filter change, clean air filter, check valve clearances etc and I thought why not take out the carbs and give them a service too. Upon removing the airbox I found this.. :o

I thought wow ok I'll just turn it back in and all will be ok.. But as much as I turned it wouldn't tighten. On better inspection I found that
the end of the bolt with the nut had snapped off..

What cuased it? I dunno. How long was it like that I dunno but all I can tell I'm very lucky and judging from the condition of the bolt it had been like that for quite a while already... It seems all that stopped the bolt from falling out was the bit of wiring harness behind the head of the bolt..
Luckily amongst my stuff I found a 12mm bolt in similar length and fitted it with nylock nut.
All's well again and took her for a test ride this afternoon..

Hello all

Picked my kle2006 up this weekend...need help on following and if have parts please pm me:

Parts needed:
Crash bars
Braded hose for front brake ( dont know if really necessary now)

Then advise:

I want to fit taller side stand cause stock one is really shitty, bike leans way to much for my liking?
Also want to fit temp and fuel gauge, is this possible?
Lastly where can i find someone to fit 12v socket for charging phone ens?

Thank you

I am located in Cape Town...just rode my first tank to reserve and got 18.2 per liters with my wife on for 99% of time and in traffic, she is now my daily commuter.

Dont know if that is good or bad...my wife weights about 55 if that helps for anything.

Think I made a mistake...got 200km until reserve so if 12l tank i only got 16.7...that is bit shit if im not mistaken?

Just want to make sure there is nothing wrong with bike

I get about 19 km/l around town on my KLE. That's one up commuting to work and back etc. Your sprocket ratio can make a small difference as well. Just for comparison I get around 15 km/l on my 1150gs in town..

Die KLE se tank wat 15L, dit het 'n reserve van so 3.5L, so as jy op 200km op reserve gaan
is dit so 17.1km/l. Re jetting, airbox mod, 1 tand kleiner sprocket voor maak dat KLE 'n bietjie beter trek.

I get on average 22 km/l on a tank commuting.  That fuel consumption seems a bit heavy.  ???

It depends where he is as well.  At altitude the KLE is a bit anemic so you tend to wring its neck.
The three things you need to fix anything in the universe: duct tape, WD-40 and a hammer.  If it moves and it shouldn't, use the duct tape.  If it doesn't move and it should, use the WD-40.  Otherwise use the hammer.

Ok but 17.1 or 17.4 is average or not seeing that I am basically fully loaded ( luckily my wife does nor read this, haha) ...so would I get 22 if I do not ride with wife or what do you guys think?

Basicly need another 50km until reserve to get the 22..
