I'm looking for the right off road biased D/S bike. I have been riding 450s, and enjoy low speed, technical riding, but want to get another bike for riding/touring with my dad, who is on a GS 1200.
I'm wary of getting a big tank, but would like something that goes well on- and off road. (an oxymoron, I know) I'm willing to put up with a less than comfortable seat and make slight modifications- (fairing, tank etc)
Important points:
- Good (tunable) suspension
- Light weight
- Off road capability
- Not too $$
- Would like to be able to ride a couple of hours on the road at a decent pace without rattling teeth loose.
I'm 80kg and 6ft3 and have never ridden on the road.
Looking for a used bike, how many kms is "too many"?
Option 2:
My dad is also looking for a funner bike. Maybe meet in the middle and get 2 of the same mid sized bikes, (like the 640s- they are cheaper too) so we can enjoy the same kind of riding?
