Can you lower a 1200 gs?

A mate is selling his older 1200 ( 2005) and I was wandering if there is any advice on how to lower it, my misses wants it but she is short, she currently happily rides a lowered 650 gs. We have offered what the dealers offered him on trade in and he is happy to sell it to us for that, which is 45k so I reckon that is about 10 k under what it could be sold for so I don't mind spending a bit to lower it. Any ideas?
