A few weeks back my son was taken out on his CBR250R by a lady entering her driveway without indicating.. its been a process but her insurance has finally made an offer to settle leaving me with the bike..
In the mean time I have made a deal to sell my CBR1000R to a guy who is willing to swap for a CBR500R and cash difference, so my son is going to be sorted with a bike and will no longer need his 250R.
I took the CBR250R to Honda for a quote to fix and it came back at R73k to fix the bike back to its former glory which is clearly never going to happen. I have already stripped the bike and what I have noticed is that the bike is really very straight, there is no damage to the forks, frame, motor or anything of importance, all of the damage is cosmetic (ish), so tank, front rim, handlebars, mirrors, footpegs etc.. but, the damage is extensive, in other words the damage wont change it to a code 3 but there is a LOT of work to do in it. to the point where its not worth fixing up to showroom condition
Because the bike was so well cared for, the motor has low km, still licensed etc etc, I was thinking of cutting it a bit and making it into a naked street fighter. I have looked around and I have already found a tank, rim, handlebars and probably 70% of the parts I need for relatively cheap - AKA bartering for other bike bits and bobs
I swore I would'nt take on another project but this one seems like fun.
