K here goes its been ages since I worked on wiring. My XR500RE has 1. an AC regulator " black box with two wires when the motor runs the one has continuous power and the other flashes" so I presume this is due to magneto "not sure if it has an altenator the bikes came out without a battery. 2. A 12v regulator/rectifier with 4 wires into/out of probably 2 in and 2 out of it wires being pink yellow green and black and two coming out into a capacitor black and green black being negative these should be 12v DC, now to connect a battery to it my logic is saying that I can tap the wires going to the capacitor and connect the green to my battery positive and black with and extra earth from the body to my negative, surely this will charge the battery and make the lights and flickers/horn run smooth? I'll add a switch to cut the battery.
