I have read Subie's plans for a father son ride in the quiet and it spurred me on to maybe organise something. I plan to take off from Potchefstroom, 99% dirt road and follow the Vaal River to Bloemhof dam, sleep over, and then back (return trip mostly on the other side of the river). I have somewhat safe parking for vehicles and trailers in Potch. We should be able to do this over a normal weekend, taking off early Saturday and be back Sunday afternoon. It is 200km one way by tar, so I guess we will do about 250 - 300 on the back roads - just a nice relaxing ride.
My son is 16 and got his XR only a month ago, so he is still new although we have already done some dirt towards Parys - his confidence level definitely exceeds his skill level!
