Grey Hound
I'd like to start with a BIG thank you to TrailRider - Johan, I really appreciate being able to acccompany you on this ride. As you said, it's a priviledge, not a right.
In addition, I would like to thank Sir Gravellot for his attentive and expert medical care - maybe we should all take a basic first aid course during the coming year. If you go riding in the hiddle of nowhere - it makes a lot of sense.
OK, here we go, my first ride report. Before you all start hammering on you keyboards to ask what took so long, let me explain. EVERYWHERE I have ridden TR has ridden as well - so it didn't make too much sense to me to show the same (or very similar) pics of the same rides. OnSaturday, I even went as far to ask TR NOT to submit a ride report! So here's my version.
Left home about 1:15 - first stop view site overlooking Swartvlei.
Then stopped for shot of Island Lake... sorry about the pics, quite hazy today.
Onto Dolphin Point - showing the mouth of the Kaaimans river and a view towards Wilderness.
On the road through Geelhoutboom, heading to TR's father's farm.
One of the dams on the farm.
After a brief upward climb, a view towards Mossel Bay.
The mountains up here are stunning.
Following a logging track down into a kloof.
One of the beautiful streams we came across - the water tastes like nectar!
(Might be even better with a dram of scotch though )
Another stop along the way.
Note the Garden Route full atgatt!
One of the rocky climbs along the way - great fun!
Time for another refreshing drink.
I really like this pic - definitely the road less travelled.
TR doing it in style.
On the way home - about 6:00pm.
WHAT A DAY!
