It looks like I am going to get the month of November off. No wife, no work and no other commitments. I am planning to pack some camping gear, ride from Howick to the Eastern Free State and pick up the point where the Orange River enters South Africa. The plan is to follow it as closely as possible to where it flows into the Atlantic and then return to Howick via the scenic route. Bike is a 1200GS and the rider is an old "toppie" of very average rider skills. Two questions:
1) Would a steering damper help for the dirt road sections?
2) Suggestions for the scenic route back would be welcomed.
If you have any suggestions or comments regarding accommodation, camp sites, places to visit and things to do or experience along the way - please add them.
