Riding through huge rain and hail storms is not ideal, but when inevitable, there are a few pointers:

Firstly, put your rainsuit on early rather than too late.
When riding, be mindful that the rain will affect your handling and particularly your braking.
Rain and hail also conceal many of the imperfections in the road surface (potholes).
Trucks and cars throw up a lot of spray - be careful when passing and make sure that you have clear visibility ahead.
If you are riding through a big hailstorm, try to ride behind a car or other vehicle and stay in the vehicle's tyre tracks.
It's safer to stop and sit out the storm, than to ride on.
