Riding Gear for Very Hot Weather

I am planning a ride to Namibia in December and would like some input with regards to appropriate hot weather riding gear.

During a similar trip last December I found my Richa riding jacket and pants almost unbearable from heat perspective. A fair portion of this trip will be on gravel roads which will definitely require protective clothing.

I have also been considering moto-X style armour and clothing but I’m unsure what is appropriate from a safety and temperature perspective.

Has anyone got any advice?
