A few people have been asking me if you could get away with using a basic non mapping GPS for serious dual sport riding.

Well there are people out there who dont even use these, so I'm sure you can get by, but how good are these units for DS riding?

Any comments from people who have them ?

While you are better off with a Garmin Vista, Quest, MAP60 or 276C, how do the eTrex and Magellan basic units measure up?

I just bought a basic unit to play with, mainly for off the bike activities, and was just thinking we could add some comments here to educate prospective buyers.
They are cheap and affordable, thats a major plus.
