I am looking at upgrading my garmaps from 2012 to the latest release. The cost of the upgrade is around R380.00. I then thought why not take the lifetime upgrade package for around R860.00. This seems a good deal never having to purchase upgrades again. Then I found a article that the software garmin and garmap use is by a company called Tele Atlas which is owned by TomTom and Garmin have a license agreement until 2015 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tele_Atlas . My predicament is do I just purchase the latest update of garmap and hope for the best or the lifetime upgrades and hope to hell that doesn’t mean end of 2015 or just keep my existing 2012 version and get Tracks for Africa T4
