At the end of April into May 2008 we are planning to ride from Cape Town to Walvis Bay to Katima to Lusaka to Beira to Maputo to Big Bend to Durban and back to Cape Town. The goal is to travel from the west coast to the east coast but staying above the Tropic of Capricorn whilst avoiding Bob's private Feifdom.
I wonder if any WD's have done this trip and can offer some advice regarding the quality of the roads from Lusaka to Beira and Beira to Maputo.
Unfortunately we need to stay on tar as RT's and Fireblades get far too exciting on sand. The maps I have are contradictary regarding Mozambique and whether the roads are tarred. It would appear that the road from Rufunsa to Beira via Tete is tarred. Can anybody confirm this?
Any WD's mad enough to join us on a 9 000 Km trip over 14 days are more than welcome. You can join or leave at any point closest to home. Camp or sleep in a bed. We would also like to intersect with any other group travelling at the same time. We met Steven and Red's group in the Caprivi during our last trip and that made it more special for us.
