Hi Guys, sorry if this is a old boring subject.
I plan on taking 6 weeks next year to ride up north into Africa. Initially I thought of riding all the way up to Santiago de Compostella in the NW part of Spain but reality kicked in... Time is the big constraint and that doesn't sound like something that can be done in 6 weeks. Would Cape to Cairo be possible in that amount of time? I can imagine that there wouldn't be a lot of time for sightseeing but that doesn't worry me on this trip.
So, which bike do I get? Most people I have spoken to say that 800cc should be the biggest bike I should consider and their lists generally seems to include the 800GS, 650GS, 650KLR or the Africa Twin... I am not adverse to buying an AT and prepping that but the idea of undertaking something like this on a 10+ year old bike seems interesting but also daunting at the same time.
Any suggestions?
