which way - twin or single

Hi there,

I am new to dual purp biking and would like to start off. What I would like is some pro and cons with regards to the difference between a twin and a single cylinder dual. I.E. transalp 700 or xt 660? Then which of the singles is better than the rest? Same for the twins

I am sure most of you guys have been through possibly both and the advice would be greatly appreciated.
