I booked mine online for Waltloo in Pretoria. Booking was made around the end of October, appointment was today.

https://online.natis.gov.za/#/

took about 2 hours from start to finish. If you need a temporary licence you need a passport photo. otherwise a copy of the booking you get when you make the online booking, id book, copy of id book and a pen. They give you the form to fill in at the test centre. cost R300 for new licence and temporary licence, should be ready in two months time.
Africa Twin CRF1000 and KTM 690 - Aaaah yeah, perfect combo....

Yip, should be online and I believe some in Pretoria dont accept walk ins anymore, you have to book.

Maybe the site is just down?

Are you guys serious? We now have to book for a renewal? I've never heard of that.

Edit: Or is this just Pretoria?

Did mine at K'dorp. No booking, just be there before 7AM and you are out by 9AM. Make absolutely sure you bring all documents required (there can be confusion about that).

I just tried to book online and the system said

Message: Previous licence of driver has been cancelled.
Suggestion: Please visit testing centre to query the reason for the message.

I think around R220, Krugersdorp accepts card payments, you will need proof of address.

As a safety/and frustration prevention take a copy of everything. I must add that krugersdorp normally is a lekker office to work with.

Works well. Centurion no longer take walk ins. You book or dont get served.
I took a week to get a booking, waited the 2 weeks. Was in and out in less than 30 min.
Cash only. Get your eyes tested for free at an optometrist.

Quick update for those interested. I needed a PrDP, quickly nogal as it has got to do with my income, so I did not have the luxury to wait for some departments to get their act together.

I went to Meyerton. Took 4 hours yesterday, certainly not chop chop, but then again done and dusted. Have temp. PrDP, valid 6 months, the new one will be ready in 6 weeks. No booking online, no further trouble. Lots of peeps where there and whilst queuing, listening to a lot of others who faced utter frustration during December, including: Krugersdorp, Randburg, Mondeor. Meyerton seems to handle quite a bit of overflow from other departments. Just make sure you have all docs required, you can do an eye-test beforehand, but not really necessary as it will be the same office where you do the eye-test and fingerprints in any case, so bringing your separate eye test does not really short cut your timing.

Here in the Free State it does... the dweeb behind the eye test console usually speaks Sotho on purpose... :sip:

I had a good laugh when I did my renewal... ou toppie in his seventies moved in behind the machine to have his eyes tested... the operator started speaking Sotho till the old ballie chimed back in Sotho and told him to stop fucking around... eye test was done in a jiffy. :imaposer:
