    KLR Doohickey Database

Hi All I checked my son's 2005 KLR and found the doospring broken.  The first owner had the doo done by someone in PE. Bought a new spring "Genuine KLR Parts, item no. 92145-0529" from dealer last week and it is TOO LONG! See pic which shows the new spring which exerts no tension at all, and...

    KLR RADIATOR CHAFE LEAK

Those fins are really very fragile. The mesh wont really stop a big rock from a bike ahead of you but will reduce progressive damage from all the smaller stuff your front wheel kicks up.

    KLR RADIATOR CHAFE LEAK

Ive done 18500k's. and as i commute daily, mostly on tar.  DS riding about every 5 weeks or so. The guard always appeared to be very firm, with the top and bottom edges curled toward the tanks. Now successfully aly welded by an aircraft welder here in PE, pressure tested last night and...

    KLR RADIATOR CHAFE LEAK

My KLR radiator sprang a leak 100 k's from anywhere this weekend. Fortunately I was travelling in a group with a backup trailer. Be warned of the fact that the radiator guard can chafe into the top or bottom tanks.  My guard had been bent/offset, probably to stop it rattling. The pics tell the...

    KLR Waterpump seal leak

Thanks for the responses.  I thought the oil seal may be an industry standard.  If the seal is that cheap I'l buy one and fit next time I feel like bonding with my bike.

    KLR Waterpump seal leak

When I did my Doo I had to take off the clutch cover to fish for the missing doo-spring bits.  Since then I've been having some drops of coolant out the tell-tale hole under the waterpump. Getting slowly worse. I opened the waterpump yesterday and checked the rotary seal under the impeller. ...

Baviaanskloof: Transit time and state of the track?

Thanks for the input from the dogs. 'Mamba, nice to hear from you again, enjoying the V-strom? Son of Paddler is still enjoying your old bike. Have decided to opt for more fishin' time at Plett, rather than the B-kloof transit Cheers Paddler

Baviaanskloof: Transit time and state of the track?

I'm taking a solo ride from PE to Plett this Friday. Considering either the R62 to Avontuur, then Prince Alfred's Pass R339 & R340 or:  Baviaanskloof to the N9, then Uniondale, Avontuur and Prince Alfred's Pass, etc Does anyone have recent info on transit time for Baviaanskloof and track...
