Time has come for a Garage makeover...

My garage is constantly in disarray (well to my standards at least  ), so i decided that as a Christmas gift i would spend some money on my garage and get it sorted.
I have spent way too much time on Garage Journal and eventually decided i needed to do something.

Apologies for the pics - cell phone... :patch:

The problem:
The garage always looks untidy, dirty and messy.
We are having another in the new year and the spare room needs to go to make way for a nursery, therefore i lose the cupboard space there.
So i need more storage space and i want a nice place for my toys to live.  :thumleft:

The plan:
Convert a standard double garage into a good functional space with storage and enough space for my toys as well.
It is after all and extension of the house and the house looks good, so why can the garage not look good too?

The garage has my side and the wife's side.
My side has lots of bikes in it and it is squashed.

It also has a pit from the previous owner. I am not mechnic so it makes a fantatic storgae space for the big stuff  :thumleft:

How it happened:
Firstly i needed to cleanup and remove all the 'stuff" from the workbench, cabinets, etc. I packed everything into crates and removed the furniture.

Had a blank canvas

I patched and painted the walls in that area. Now for the carpenter to arrive and do his thing
I also cleaned and painted the roof a brilliant white

The wood arrived...

Couple of weekends later it was time to paint

First coat done

While the painter was busy, i needed to sort out the crates as i just put stuff in and packed away.

I managed to clean up, sort out and threw out 2 dustbins full of crap...needless  to say that i went from 9 full crates to 6 semi full ones with order. I also labelled each one in it's category.

With painting done and go-fast stripe added, it was time to add the newly painted cabinet and return items to the garage
