Hesitation under acceleration

Under hard acceleration I get a hesitation and you have to feed the throttle open slowly to get over this. It them pulls hard at to the rev limiter. Only occurs from half to full throttle and not off idle.

Any ideas? Is it the fuel pump giving up?
