Is it my imagination?

I need some advice. I ride a KTM 990R with FMF aftermarket pipes on, but it's quite loud at high speed especially after a long day in the saddle - so I decide to put back the spark arrestors and I don't know if it's my imagination but my bike feels like it's got more power now, can this be?
