Welding on my bike. PLEASE Help

Hi all this is might sound like a stupid question but if I don't ask it could be a costly mistake.

My foot catch on my sidestand broke off and I need to weld it on, I want to know if I can leave the stand on the bike and just gooi mielies and weld it on or should I take it off and weld it? I'm scared that if I weld it with the stand on the bike I bugger up the electronics.

Can anyone help me?
